Happy Halloween! I would have liked to have submitted more holiday art, but when you lose power and Internet for two days, that's a bit easier said than done. (I still don't have power, in fact. I'm uploading this from my phone, and let me tell you, uploading the file was quite a feat. Be happy for me.) So, I suppose this will have to be my last spooky submission for this year; I hope it will suffice.
I promised a full-sized pumpkin at the beginning of the month; here it is. This is also my second and last submission for 's Halloween art jam (I had another idea for another picture, but the power went out before I could make it happen). It's a Phantom of the Opera-inspired jack-o-lantern. For those who may be curious, I used regular carving tools for the eyes and mouth, but for the mask, I used a dremel with a sandpaper bit to "sand" away enough of the pumpkin skin so that it became translucent when a light source was placed inside. It was a bit scary to use at first, but it was fun after that! (And messy. Dremeling the pumpkin caused orange pumpkin-sawdust to spray everywhere, including all over the kitchen floor and all over me. I came out of it looking like an Oompa Loompa.)
Please excuse the photo quality -- I took the picture with my phone and without any access to any kind of editing software. Perhaps when I get power back, I'll reupload this with a better-quality photo, but this will have to do for now.
I hope you all out there had a better Halloween than I did!
